February 2008 Newsletter

Wasn’t Observation Week phenomenal?  We were so very proud of our dancers.  They have made such progress from November! 

      We have distributed the dance camp brochures.  If you did not receive one, please see Inge or Bev at the desk.  We invite all girls 8 to 17 years old.  Bring a friend!  (No dance experience required.)  It’s a wonderful week at Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Md. (July 13 – July 19, 2007).  The total cost is $630, but you may pay in 3 installments.  The deposit is due March 1st ($300), the 2nd payment April 1st ($165), and the final payment May 1st ($165).  If you do not pay the deposit on March 1st, the fee is due May 1st and is $650.  The girls always have a fabulous time and thoroughly enjoy the camp!  Come join us!!

      A few gentle reminders of our policies--please respect them:

1. All tuition is due the 1st lesson of the month.  If you are absent for ANY reason, it is still due.  We DO accept payments the first week of the month, or by mail.  If you pay the 2nd lesson or later, there is a $10 late fee.
2. There is absolutely NO EATING, NO DRINKING, and NO CHEWING GUM OR CANDY allowed in the studio!  We just had new carpeting installed in the lobbies.  Only covered plastic containers of water are acceptable. We have cold bottled water available for $1 for your convenience. 
3. Also, please be prompt in arriving for class and picking up your children after their class.  (Arrive 10 min. early for class and for pick up).
4. We follow MCPS closings for inclement weather ONLY.  We are open on holidays, professional days, and ½ days.  We will announce our holidays by newsletter, signs in the studio or the outside doors, and announcements by teachers.  You may always call the studio (301-949-5111) or e-mail us: wheatonstudio@hotmail.com.  The next time we are closed is for Spring Break (Fri., 3/21 through Sat., 3/29).
5. Please mark your child’s name in their belongings (dance bag and dance shoes).
6. Do not allow your child to wear their dance shoes outside.  This includes their sneakers for hip hop.  They should be worn only for dance and should not have black soles.

      We’d like to welcome back Miss Bev.  We’ve missed you and are glad you have recuperated so well!

      Our Juniors & Seniors will be competing in “Showbiz” in Woodbridge, VA, the weekend of Mar. 7-9 (Hip Hop & Lyrical).  If you are able, come and watch them!  You’ll be amazed!

      The recital trim should arrive sometime after Spring Break and our Informal Recital will be Sun., 6/1.  The time will be announced at a later date.  The location is the Melvin J. Berman Hebrew Academy, 13300 Arctic Avenue, Rockville.

      Our summer schedule will be available approximately April 1st.  The session is 6 weeks long and costs $90.

      My husband, Leon, and I would like to thank all of you for your well wishes and prayers for our baby, Gavin.  We’re very happy to report that he is doing well!
